River Valley Riders Summer 2022 News

Message from Cheryl Holt, RVR Executive Director

Hello RVR Participants, Volunteers, Families, Caregivers, Friends,

We are already halfway through our 2022 year of programming!  We started the programming the week of April 18, 2022, and will finish on November 3, 2022.  Twenty-six weeks of riding and carriage driving at our Afton site.  We went to full programming right from the start, and all has been going well.

RVR is partnering with This Old Horse at their new facility near New Richmond, WI to offer therapeutic riding on Tuesdays evenings. We are working on expanding this program to accommodate eight riders. We are using their indoor arena and their horses.

RVR is also offering eight weeks of Hippotherapy with a physical abilities focus, on Wednesday mornings, which will wrap up in mid-August.  We are partnering with Sally DelGiudice, Physical Therapist and PATH Intl. Certified Instructor, to offer these classes to two participants who would not be able to participate in our regular therapeutic riding program.  RVR plans to offer speech focused Hippotherapy again in 2023 in partnership with Unbridled Abilities and Madeline Boe.

We completed four sessions with the Waldorf school students as part of their summer camp!  Twelve students enjoyed riding as one of their activities for camp.

We are planning our Phase 2 construction to start later this summer, creating our office building shell with indoor bathrooms, observation room, storm shelter areas, an office and small conference room, plus the annex building for mounting! We will continue our programming “around” this construction, so bear with us.

While focusing on the future, we also looked back at last year.  2021 was an incredible year and it was so wonderful to bring our mission to life again.  Please enjoy our 2021 Annual Report in review of the accomplishments of our riders and drivers as we resumed services.

It is a very busy year at River Valley Riders!

Warm regards,
Cheryl Holt
Executive Director
